As an Australian who lives and works in the mid-western Chinese city of Hanzhong, I was pleased to read Margaret Simons’ excellent article “High Price” (AFA7: China Dependence) on the experience of Chinese students in Australia.
I am a former English teacher and principal of two Victorian schools, Newhaven College and Preshil. My wife, who is Chinese, is an experienced teacher of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). We work together teaching IELTS and its American counterpart, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Our students are mostly online and taught individually.
